Shaking our world !!

I agree with the theory of plate tectonics that says that the earth is broken up into huge pieces called plate tectonics. This Idea is agreeable because throughout the time the earth has been constantly changing, and evidences to this are the geographical features that are present in the earth such as mountain, volcanoes, rift valleys, hot spots, trenches and mid-ridge ocean.

These geographical features have been created because of the movement of the plate tectonics. So we have plates in the earth. When the two or more plates meet, its called Plate Boundary. There share three kinds of boundary that is: Divergent Boundary, Convergent Boundary, and Transform Boundary. Divergent Boundary is when two plates are moving from each other. It is caused by Tectonic plate under the ocean and created new land. The Convergent Boundary is when the plates are coming together, caused by Volcanoes, and create a mountain. Transform Boundary is when plates are sliding past each other caused by earthquake.

One of the causes of earth movement is Faults. When the Earth surface (top or face of the earth) breaks it called Fault. And there are three kinds of Fault, Normal Fault, Reverse Fault and Strike-Slip Fault. The Normal Fault is when the one side of the breaks moves down. The Reverse Fault is when one side of the breaks moves up, and the Strike-Slip Fault, when one side of the breaks slides past each other.
                                                                                                                                                                                  Conclusion

So this is the cause of the earthquake that shows how earth has a plate and how is their movement. So now we know why we have movement because of the earthquake. The Fault is the one reason that shows how plates are moving. Another effect shows in the Plate Boundary because it shows the movement of the plates.

            •  Reflection

  1. What did you enjoy most about this project?
  • I enjoy while i present this project to classmates. And this project was the hard one, but still very helpful to know about EARTH!
     2. What was most challenges for you during this project and why?
  •   Finding information was the most challenging for me because this project was new for me!!
        3.  What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
  •   Well, i learned a lot of things that i wasn't know before, and the important is i learned how does EARTHQUAKE caused and how does it effected!!
      4. Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work?
  •  AMMM!! I don't really know that, maybe i did bad on the class. I was quiet while my teacher gave us question about the project. So I'll try my best next time to answer more.
     5.  What would you change about this project?
  • I would change my handout that i made the presentation!!

ROCK TYPES BLOG POST

                                     Rock Cycle!

Rock Cycle formed by three kind of rocks. There are Igneous Rock by melting, Metamorphic Rock by Heat and pressure, and Sedimentary Rock by weathering!

Igneous rock that cooled quickly (such as on the surface) formed smaller crystals whereas those that cooled slower (such as under the surface) have larger crystals.

Over time the effects of chemicals, heat and pressure (such as from underground magma flow) can transform the structure of Igneous rock. This change forms  Metamorphic rock

Metamorphic and Igneous rock can be worn down by the effects of erosion. Acid rain, rain, wind, expansion and contraction of ice, earthquakes and other factors will wear down rocks to smaller pieces.

Eventually most of the broken bits of the rock end up in the streams & rivers that flow down from the mountains. These little bits of rock & sand are called sedimentsOver time the layers of sand and mud at the bottom of lakes and oceans turned into rocks. These are called Sedimentary Rock.

                                                  Rocks

Metamorphic rock: Rock that was once one form of rock but has changed to another under the influence of heat, pressureor some other agent without passing through a liquid phase.

Magma/Lava: the molten, fluid rock that issues from a Volcano or Volcanic vent.

Solidification: change form a liquid or gaseous to a solid form. (To become a solid.)

Igneous Rock:  Rock formed by the cooling and solidifying of molten materials.Igneous rocks can form beneath the Earth's surface, or at its surface, as lava.

Weathering:  the various mechanical and chemical processes that cause exposed rock to decompose.

Erosion:  the process by which the surface of the earth is worn away by the action of water, glaciers, winds, waves, etc.

Sediment: the matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid.

Compactionthe consolidation of sediments resulting from the weight of overlying deposits.

Cementation: the heating of two substances in contact in order to effect some change in one of them, especially, the formation of steel by heating iron in powdered charcoal.

Sedimentary Rock: Rock that has formed through the deposition and solidification of sediment, especially sediment transported by water (rivers, lakes, and oceans), ice and wind. Sedimentary rocks are often deposited in layers, and frequently contain fossils.

                                             Rock Types

Igneous /Intrusive rock: magma forced into cavities or cracks of other rocks and crystallized but not reaching the surface

Igneous/Extrusive rock: noting or pertaining to a class of igneous rocks that have been forced out in a molten or plastic condition upon the surface of the earth.

Sedimentary/Clastic rock: a rock composed of broken pieces of older rocks.

Sedimentary/Crystalline rock: of or like crystal, clear, transparent. (formed by Crystallization)

\

Sedimentary/ Bioclastic rock derived from shell fragments or similar organic remains.

Metamorphic/Foliated rock: Rock does have line in it! (shaped like a leaf or leaves.)

Metamorphic/Non Foliated rock: Rock does not have any line in it! ( metamorphic rock that does not display a lamellar texture or distinct light and dark banding common.

CRYSTALS & MINERALS BLOG POST!!!

CRYSTALS!

Hanging Crystals in delightful shapes and NEW COLORS! Crystals represent the Earth element, and are also a considered a "Light Cure". They are a beautiful way to energize your home, and an easy cure to apply to any area. Hang them in a window for colorful rainbows!

In Earth SCIENCE class we learned two kind of Crystals, by making it. First we made Saturated Solution to see how these minerals grow up. From this experiment we learned a lot of thing about Crystals.

MINERAL PROPERTIES!!

Vocabulary!!

Luster- is a something that's tell you how its gonna break!!

(Luster describes how a mineral appears to reflects light, and how brilliant or dull the mineral is.)

Color- is a thing that  tell you how is look like!! (The recognition of colors in minerals goes back to our prehistoric ancestors who used charcoal and iron oxides to color cave paintings which still retain their original intensity.)

Hardness- is a thing that tells you how the rock is hard or soft!!      (Hardness is measured by the resistance which a smooth surface offers to abrasion. The degree of hardness is determined by observing the comparative ease or difficulty which which one mineral is scratched by another.)

MINERAL Identification!!

There is a lot of type of minerals and minerals properties in Earh science!!
